{"id":1450,"date":"2026-08-03T03:12:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T03:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=1450"},"modified":"2026-08-03T03:12:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T03:12:21","slug":"astrazeneca-said-to-have-explored-bristol-myers-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=1450","title":{"rendered":"AstraZeneca said to have explored Bristol Myers merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GettyImages-2242162839-e1785704467995.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AstraZeneca Plc has explored an acquisition of Bristol Myers Squibb Co., in a megadeal that would create one of the world\u2019s largest drugmakers, according to people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The companies have held early-stage discussions about combining, the people added, asking not to be identified because the matter is private.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s unclear if discussions are ongoing or whether they will result in a transaction, the people cautioned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A representative for AstraZeneca declined to comment and Bristol Myers Squibb couldn\u2019t immediately be reached for comment on the talks, which were first reported by the Financial Times.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bristol Myers Squibb, which has a $133 billion market capitalization, could provide AstraZeneca with a bigger foothold in the US market. AstraZeneca has a market value of about \u00a3196 billion ($264 billion)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bristol is preparing for the loss of patent protection for some of its biggest products, including the blood thinner Eliquis and cancer drug Opdivo. Together they make up about half of Bristol\u2019s sales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week it reported quarterly sales of $13 billion, its highest ever.
