Andy Sirel: <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Andy Sirel, co-founding partner and legal director at JustRight Scotland, has been named Law Champion of the Year in the Scottish Legal Awards 2026, sponsored by Daily Business<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mr Sirel will be presented with the award at the Scottish Legal Awards dinner on Thursday 17 September at DoubleTree by Hilton, Glasgow Central, where Scotland\u2019s legal profession will come together to celebrate outstanding achievement across the sector.<\/p>\n

The Law Champion of the Year Award recognises an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the legal profession and wider society, using their expertise, influence and commitment to make a meaningful difference.<\/p>\n

Mr Sirel is a co-founding partner at the legal charity which works to defend and extend people\u2019s human rights while partnering with communities to help change systems that create barriers to justice.<\/p>\n

Through his work at JustRight Scotland, he and his team support people who face structural barriers to accessing justice, using the law to protect rights, challenge inequality and hold those in positions of power to account.<\/p>\n

With more than 16 years of experience working with migrant women and young people, Mr Sirel has developed extensive expertise across asylum, family reunion, anti-trafficking and children\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n

His contribution extends beyond his legal practice. He sits on a number of UK and Scottish governmental working groups and regularly provides evidence to parliament on issues relating to human rights and access to justice. He is also a media commentator, contributing his expertise to wider discussions around the rights of migrants, children and communities facing barriers within the legal system.<\/p>\n

His work throughout his career has demonstrated a sustained commitment to ensuring the law is accessible to those who need it most and to creating lasting change through both legal action and policy.<\/p>\n

The Law Champion of the Year Award recognises Mr Sirel\u2019s significant contribution to advancing human rights, improving access to justice and championing the needs of individuals and communities who can too often find themselves excluded from the legal system.<\/p>\n
