{"id":3427,"date":"2026-08-29T14:36:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T14:36:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=3427"},"modified":"2026-08-29T14:36:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T14:36:47","slug":"ibms-ceo-disagrees-with-jpmorgan-ceo-jamie-dimons-disdain-for-texting-in-meetings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=3427","title":{"rendered":"IBM\u2019s CEO disagrees with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon\u2019s disdain for texting in meetings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2242088737-e1762270734612.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At <em>Fortune\u2019s<\/em> Most Powerful Women summit in fall 2025, he said he expects full attention from everyone in the room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you have an iPad in front of me and it looks like you\u2019re reading your email or getting notifications, I tell you to close the damn thing,\u201d he told <em>Fortune<\/em> Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell. \u201cIt\u2019s disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, however, sees it a bit differently. He argued it would be \u201cweird\u201d for a tech company to tell its employees not to use their technology\u2014especially in larger meetings where devices can be a useful tool rather than a distraction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI distinguish between one-to-10-person meetings and very large meetings. If it\u2019s a very large meeting, I\u2019m sorry. It\u2019s not really a meeting. It\u2019s a communication vehicle. You\u2019re just informing people,\u201d Krishna told <em>CNN<\/em> in October 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the 64-year-old said that smaller, more intimate meetings should be treated attentively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf it\u2019s a small meeting, I would really frown upon if somebody is sitting opposite my desk and lost in their phone,\u201d he said. \u201cI would tell them: \u2018Why don\u2019t you come back when you have time?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dimon\u2019s long-standing frustration with meetings<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behavior in the conference room is something Dimon has long lamented. In fact, in his annual letter to shareholders released in spring 2025, he mentioned the word \u201cmeetings\u201d six times\u2014urging employees to only schedule them when necessary and to make them count.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI see people in meetings all the time who are getting notifications and personal texts or who are reading emails,\u201d Dimon wrote. \u201cThis has to stop. It\u2019s disrespectful. It wastes time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Dimon hasn\u2019t drawn clear lines around meeting size like Krishna has, his frustration appears to extend well beyond small gatherings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a conversation at Stanford University in March 2025, Dimon recalled joining a Zoom meeting where attention was clearly divided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere were 12 people in the room and four people on the screen and all four people on the screen were on their phone,\u201d he recalled. \u201cAnd people say, and you think you\u2019re focusing and learning?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dimon\u2019s disdain for distracted meetings comes as he\u2019s led one of the most aggressive return-to-office mandates on Wall Street.
