{"id":4426,"date":"2026-09-13T01:47:53","date_gmt":"2026-09-13T01:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=4426"},"modified":"2026-09-13T01:47:53","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T01:47:53","slug":"u-s-diesel-prices-are-now-60-higher-than-they-were-before-trumps-iran-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=4426","title":{"rendered":"U.S. diesel prices are now 60% higher than they were before Trump&#8217;s Iran war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/AP26254548547470.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The price of diesel is hitting record highs just when many U.S. farmers need it to power combines, tractors and other equipment to harvest two of the nation\u2019s largest commodities, soybeans and corn.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spike adds to an already\u00a0tough year for these farmers, who also faced higher costs for\u00a0fertilizer, seeds and equipment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diesel hit a\u00a0record price\u00a0in the U.S. on Sept. 4, soaring to an average of $5.85 a gallon for the first time as the\u00a0six-month\u00a0war with Iran disrupted the world\u2019s\u00a0flow of fuel. It has gone even higher since then,\u00a0going for an average price of $6.05 a gallon on Friday, according to AAA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThose prices hurt,\u201d said Paul Mitchell, a professor of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not just the harvesting. It\u2019s the hauling of everything, moving the grain or the silage from the field to the farm and then from the farm to wherever they\u2019re selling it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jason Kurtz, a corn and soybean farmer near Forest City, Missouri, said he was paying twice as much for diesel this year. His combine uses 200 gallons (760 liters) of fuel a day; he expected to run it for 30 days. He also needed diesel for a tractor and trucks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have to harvest,\u201d he said in an interview at his farm about 90 miles (145 kilometers) outside Kansas City on Tuesday. \u201cWe have to run the machines. We have to use the diesel, so it cuts into our bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kurtz, 49, said his finances were \u201calready tight\u201d this year after he also had to pay more for fertilizer and chemicals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">American diesel prices are now 60% higher than they were before the U.S. and Israel launched their war against Iran in late February, when the national average was about $3.76 per gallon, according to AAA.
