For the most part, we\u2019re here to tell you that your mind\u2019s eye is confusing Hollywood with real life in the UK, even at a leadership level in business. Let\u2019s address the private jet in the room. Private aviation certainly exists within the framework of high-level British business travel, but not currently to the extent that many people assume it does. When the travel is local, it is almost always undertaken by rail. Train travel is THE STANDARD, even among executives, in Britain. Not only is the train faster door to door all told when travelling between major British cities, but the first class carriages are comfortable enough to function as mobile offices. Senior execs and businesspeople book these carriages because the journey is billable and easily justifiable as it\u2019s time that can be used to continue daily operations. A table with a charging point, comfortable seating, the ability to completely avoid last- and first-mile travel plans, and the widespread and largely reliable train infrastructure all contribute to rail travel being the choice of the day.<\/p>\n
That town car we mentioned a few paragraphs back is about to make another appearance. Chauffeur-driven vehicles and executive cars have persisted as part of a high-powered business person\u2019s life in 2026, particularly as it relates to getting to and from flights or on back-to-back meeting days when a car essentially becomes an office. That said, with younger generations, this standard has shifted. Companies now often have accounts with e-hailing apps that have taken up a lot of the need for chauffeurs, and this has become the default for younger senior staff. In Central London, more and more execs are opting for a stroll and eschewing the car option entirely when possible.<\/p>\n
Individual preference has very little to do with executive travel unless you have climbed the ranks to the C-suite level or ownership. Corporate travel management companies or professionals will negotiate decent rates with a small number of hotel chains; when bookings are needed, a booking platform designed for executive travel will show planners the compliant options first or only. The result of this is that most British business travel accommodation usually takes place within a small number of four-star hotels that are usually more conveniently located than other options. The most obvious change in executive-level travel in Britain is not how trips are happening but that they\u2019re happening less than they ever have before. The banal and mundane meetings that keep businesses running (supplier check-ins, reviews, internal meetings, and the like) are usually relegated to online status: meetings by video. Where actual travel endures is in the spaces that need a personal touch: coaxing a client off a ledge, closing a deal, site visits, meeting a team in person as you establish a relationship, or any event that requires that you\u2019re there in person. Though business is changing, a personal touch will not be needed in certain circumstances.<\/p>\n
