There is 0% chance that\u2019s going to be the end of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said other AI leaders like Sam Altman of OpenAI and Dario Amodei of Anthropic were \u201cirresponsible\u201d for the \u201cdoomsday narratives\u201d they have pushed in recent reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI believe the claims of the end of the world, stirring fear across America, and doing it by the people who are doing it makes no sense to me, so they must be doing it for ulterior reasons,\u201d Huang said. \u201cIt is irresponsible, and I don\u2019t know what their motives are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a G20 event earlier in September, Huang also argued that governments should be regulating \u201cactual and pragmatic harm\u201d instead of \u201chypothetical, theoretical harm.\u201d He continued by comparing AI development to the evolution of cars\u2014basically saying the tech can become safer as it advances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in July, Huang told <em>Axios<\/em> the idea that AI would cause the end of humanity was \u201ccomplete nonsense.\u201d He also added that policymakers shouldn\u2019t allow \u201cscience fiction\u201d to drive AI policy, saying the U.S. could hurt itself by becoming too fearful of the technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be sure, keeping AI at full speed helps Nvidia sell more chips. But a shift to more cybersecurity to protect against rogue AI agents would also fuel demand for chips.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Huang\u2019s forceful pushback aligns with President Donald Trump, who called him on the phone while the CEO was in the middle of a presentation, saying AI doomerism is \u201ca hoax.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAI taking over the World, destroying Humanity, and all other things bad, is a HOAX,\u201d Trump posted on Truth Social in September. \u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that doesn\u2019t mean Huang believes AI safeguards are unnecessary. He has called AI safety \u201cparamount\u201d while insisting development can still move quickly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf we\u2019re compromising safety, that can\u2019t happen,\u201d he told CBS News. \u201cWe should go as fast as we can, but not faster than we should.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And on Monday, Nvidia rolled out a new platform designed to keep AI agents from going rogue, saying its Open Agent Safety Platform is designed to provide \u201cfull-stack\u201d control over AI agents from testing through deployment. The system is meant to give monitoring capabilities to prevent the agents from exceeding the authority they\u2019ve been given.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rollout comes as AI companies face a growing number of incidents. Multiple accounts of rogue AI agents have been reported\u2014including from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.\u00a0Nvidia said its new safety system could have stopped the hack on Hugging Face by OpenAI models.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrom what we know, this new security platform could have stopped the breach if it was being used in frontier labs for model evaluation early on,\u201d Justin Boitano, vice president and general manager of enterprise computing at Nvidia, said during a media briefing.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the influx of rogue AI agent reports, Nvidia is looking to address it using two technologies: \u201cOpenShell\u201d and \u201cSentry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Nvidia, OpenShell puts AI agents inside isolated environments to restrict access to files, tools, networks, credentials and other resources. Essentially, it is standardizing the restrictions that led to previous breakouts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sentry is an outside layer. It runs on Nvidia\u2019s data processing units to continuously monitor agent activity. The company says that if an agent attempts to move outside its software boundary, Sentry can quarantine and stop it in milliseconds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAI\u2019s extraordinary potential for society will only be realized if we solve AI safety,\u201d Huang said in a press release. \u201cAs we continue to discover the frontier of AI capabilities, we must accelerate discovery at the frontier of AI safety.
