{"id":6967,"date":"2026-10-17T22:14:30","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T22:14:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=6967"},"modified":"2026-10-17T22:14:30","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T22:14:30","slug":"trump-boasts-about-his-self-proclaimed-power-and-vows-to-revive-a-kentucky-drug-plant-if-gop-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vaultinsider.top\/?p=6967","title":{"rendered":"Trump boasts about his self-proclaimed power and vows to revive a Kentucky drug plant if GOP wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/AP26290683069186-e1792271935663.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump touted\u00a0his power in his second go around\u00a0in the White House Saturday while rallying in Kentucky to bolster Republican turnout as his party struggles in the midterms, saying, \u201cI can do stuff that is unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump, who spoke in the city of Highland Heights to boost Republican candidates including Ed Gallrein for the U.S. House, was riffing on his decision to change how the U.S. government refers to the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I could have done this in my first term. This is a much more powerful term,\u201d Trump said. \u201cGoogle wouldn\u2019t have taken my call in the first. Now, they kiss my ass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, I also changed the name of a lake in Canada to the Lake America,\u201d he continued, referring to Lake Ontario.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump\u2019s self-proclaimed power is set against voter\u00a0frustration with how he\u2019s wielded it, with tariffs and the Iran war driving up prices and more Americans seeing the president\u00a0looking out for his own interests\u00a0and not those of the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With control of both chambers of Congress on the line, and with it the prospects of Democratic-led investigations of his administration should they win, Trump has put himself at the fore for voters, asking them to \u201cpretend that I\u2019m on the ballot.\u201d But Republicans privately worry that growing disapproval of his administration is a liability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump nominated one of his personal lawyers to serve as attorney general, ordered\u00a0military strikes\u00a0on accused drug smuggling boats, is trying to put his name on the Kennedy Center, and has\u00a0enriched himselfand his family while he\u2019s been in office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While meandering through topics onstage in Kentucky, Trump touched on gas prices, saying that the war with Iran was going to end soon \u2014 an assertion he\u2019s made many times over the course of the nearly eight-month conflict \u2014 and that gas prices will drop to lower than previously. The crowd cheered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facing the electoral headwinds, Trump is working to paint a portentous picture of Democrats in the final weeks before the midterms. That includes the claim that if his opposing party wins, the U.S. will \u201chave a depression,\u201d and that the Democratic platform includes abolishing the U.S. Senate and U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those are not on the Democratic Party\u2019s platform. But Trump is trying to lump them in with the Democratic Socialists of America, which have had a few candidates win in this year\u2019s primary elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump also rehashed his\u00a0dubious promise\u00a0that if Republicans win the House and the Senate then every adult American would get $5,000. That would most likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval, while exacerbating the country\u2019s nearly $1.8 trillion annual budget deficit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump added a new, seemingly conditional promise for Kentucky. That if Republicans win, he said, the Department of Defense would invest in revitalizing a drug manufacturing facility in the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president pulled Gallrein on stage, the Republican candidate for the U.S. House district who beat Rep. Thomas Massie in the GOP primary. Massie had aggravated Trump by pushing for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files and opposing the Iran war, and the president responded by successfully backing Gallrein in the party\u2019s primary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massie, however, still has a following for standing on his staunchly conservative principles, even when it meant voting against his own party.
