Law firm Pinsent Masons has elected John Maciver, a graduate of Edinburgh University, as senior partner.
Mr Maciver is a finance partner and is head of the firm’s financial services sector which under his leadership has grown by over 20% in the last two financial years.
He joined the firm as a trainee in 1995 after graduating in law and spent his junior career with the firm in Scotland before relocating to London.
Since rejoining the firm in 2008 he has been influential in shaping the firm’s financial services sector strategy, and growing the finance, restructuring and funds practices whilst leading major client relationships.
He was also instrumental in embedding the use of legal technology into the financial services sector’s legal service delivery.
He said: “Our industry has evolved significantly over recent years, and that pace of change will continue. We have made, and will continue to make, the investments in people and technology which enable our clients to rely on us when the stakes are high.”
Mr Maciver succeeds Andrew Masraf with effect from 1 October.
