D&G Autocare has passed the twentieth garage milestone across the UK after opening a branch in Ayr.
The 21st outlet is a £200,000 facility in the town’s Boundary Road offering the full remit of D&G Autocare services, including Class 4 & Class 7 MOT testing, vehicle servicing & repairs, together with a comprehensive tyre shop.
It is located at Heathfield Industrial Estate, a vibrant area that is home to a range of businesses, from supermarkets to hardware stores, leisure facilities to fast food outlets.
“Heathfield Industrial Estate is the ideal location for us in Ayr, providing ample footfall, local facilities, and through traffic to support the growth of this new branch as we bed into the local community,” said Scott Cameron, one of D&G Autocare’s top-performing managers, who is now heading up the new outlet.
“We’ve now surpassed our original target of 20 garages within 20 years of the business which we achieved last year with the launch of our Cumbernauld branch,”
Scott joined D&G in 2018 as a technician, before developing his experience and leadership skills to enter the management side of the business.
“This new Ayr garage represents our furthest move west in Scotland so far,” he said.
The “friendly garage”, as it’s known, already has a branch in Rutherglen, Glasgow, with three more covering Lanarkshire.
In the east of Scotland, 14 garages stretch from Fife and Edinburgh, to West Lothian, Perth, Stirling, and Tayside. In England, D&G in Carlisle opened in August 2024, bringing the trusted D&G name to a new part of the UK.
“Initially, we’ll be employing six technicians here in Ayr,”said Scott. “Whilst there will not be an apprentice in place from day one, creating apprenticeship opportunities is certainly part of our plans for the site, as we have a very successful apprenticeship scheme in place across the group.”
Additionally, the new garage & tyre shop is offering fleet vehicle maintenance & servicing, alongside repairs and maintenance for petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles.
“Electric vehicles are now becoming something we see multiple times a day,” he said. “The training we give to our team members puts them ready to support our customers no matter what their issue is.”
Each new outlet is a £200,000 investment to “cover everything from building preparation, to vehicle lifts, to IT equipment/diagnostic machines, and equipping the MOT test bay. It also stretches to provide speciality equipment such as that needed for Air Conditioning systems, and so on.”
Scott said he was confident that D&G Autocare would make a strong entry into the Ayr autocare market.
“There are a mixture of national chains and independent garages here. While there are several established operators in the area, we believe D&G Autocare stands out through the breadth of services we provide, our investment in modern technology, and our strong focus on friendly, customer-focused service.”
