Catherine McWilliam: new opportunity

The Institute of Directors Scotland has begun a search for a new director after Catherine McWilliam announced she was taking up a new role.

Ms McWilliam will leave in November after five years with the IoD, four of them as director.

“It has been an absolute privilege to have been the trusted steward for this brilliant community,” she said in a social media post.

“As I transition out of the Institute, I want to reassure both our members and stakeholders that the number one priority over the coming months for IoD Scotland chair Julie Ashworth and myself, is to continue to build upon the work we have delivered over the past four years.

“Together we have put member engagement, value and representation at the heart of our activity, and this will remain the case.

“Our community is strong, our network and voice more visible than ever before. On your behalf, we hold a seat at the tables where key decisions are being made, driving policy and influencing change. This too will remain a priority.

“Please rest assured that a plan is already in place to recruit my successor and do please reach out if you would like to find out more.

“I look forward to continuing my own relationship with the IoD from the other side.

“Thank you all for your support, encouragement and fair challenge over the years. This has been the role of a lifetime for me, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you all.”
