A Fife hotel owned by the same family for more than 50 years is to become the first Scottish destination for Hilton’s Spark discount chain.
The company has signed an agreement with SMAR Hotel to take over the Pitbauchlie House Hotel in Dunfermline.
It was owned and operated by the Solley family from 1970 until October 2024, when it was sold to Smar with an asking price of £1.65 million.
The 53-room hotel will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before opening at the end of the year.
Hilton is opening hotels in Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Doncaster, Hull, Peterborough, Runcorn, Sunderland, Wakefield and Washington over the next two years.
Paul Blackmore, vice president, development, UK & Ireland, Hilton, said: “These signings underline the strength of demand for Spark by Hilton we are seeing from owners across the UK.”
Launched in 2023, Spark by Hilton continues to expand its presence across Europe and the Middle East, with recent announcements marking further growth in Italy and Spain, alongside the brand’s debut in Saudi Arabia.
Worldwide, Spark by Hilton now has over 275 hotels, with more than 200 properties in the development pipeline.
