Edinburgh entrepreneur Chris Wood has launched what is believed to be the UK’s largest escape room venture.
Mr Wood wants the Team Machine in the capital to be the first of a number around the UK as he capitalises on the appeal of escape rooms to corporate clients as well as the leisure market. The venue can cater for between eight and 24 people.
“In-person immersive experiences are a big growth area globally,” he said. “I saw a gap in the market to bring a really engaging, escape room inspired, social activity that worked for larger corporate and consumer groups to my home city of Edinburgh.”
Team Machine Edinburgh is testing the market ahead of a plan to expand into other UK cities. The company plans to grow from two staff to five by the end of next year.
Mr Wood is also looking to take some of the technology directly to clients’ business premises.
